Strong Enough?

Yesterday our class had a lesson about communication and job research. It was a nice morning which really touched me, because we had to analyze our personal strenghts and weaknesses. The most interesting part was to share them with others and to receive feedbacks from our classmates. It was sure a great experience, because I realized that your personal vision doesn't always correspond with how people see you. It was also useful, because this way you know what actions should be taken to work on yourself and become a better person.

I would like to say that this course seems to be the best choice I have done this year! Lessons are quite interesting and we are close to start our internship in the hotels. I think my classmates and me are grown during this first part of the course and we made a great team! That's why I think we are ready to get started. Anyway, let's see what next week is going to give us. I can't wait to update you!

Going Beyond The River

Have you already visited Trieste and want to see something more? Are you addicted to nature and love spending your time around lakes and rivers? Here is an original itinerary we prepared for you! Just take a breath, prepare your bag pack and here we go!

You're not travelling alone, we want to ensure you are in the right company. That's why we thought the target should be a group about 20-50 people, who are adults (children are welcome as well!).
We suggest you to book this trip between september and october, so that you may enjoy your experience as much as possible.

First day:
the coach bus leaves in the morning from piazza Oberdan and the first place you are visiting is Postojna Cave, which is situated beyond the border in Slovenia. Lunch will take place in the elegant capital of Ljubljana. In the afternoon don't be lazy and go for a visit towards the hill, where there is a fascinating medieval castle and enjoy the view from the top of the city! Later, when you are back in the centre, have a walk along the river and take some fresh drinks in the lounge bars and a little suggestion for dinner... what about a traditional meat meal like ćevapčići? Make your stomach feel happy and then have a good nightlife!

Second day:
after breakfast you are travelling to Bled, the most visited lake in Slovenia. You may rent a boat, if you want to reach the island, where there is a cute church. Enjoy the nature around you and have a visit to the castle on the cliff overlooking the lake. Time will fly faster than you can imagine, so you are staying in Bled for the night.

Third day:
there is another place not far from Bled, that is Bohinj lake. Here the group spends the morning and then we cross the border: Fusine lakes are waiting for you! Walk around the lakes and see the beautiful woods there, establish a contact with nature and relax. Then, after lunch, visit Venzone and all the small town along the river Tagliamento. In the evening, dinner will take place in San Daniele, which is famous for its delicious ham. Get off your shoes and have a regenerating night!

Last day:
in the morning you are discovering the hidden aspects of San Daniele and after lunch you are leaving back to Trieste.

This is our idea for an alternative tour around Trieste and Friuli Venezia-Giulia.
What do you think about? You are welcome to book your place!

Hiking days in Trieste

Hi everyone! If you want to make an experience out of the beaten path in Trieste, then you are on the right blog! There are many hiking paths in the surroundings of the city, here we will present you two different itineraries for nature lovers.
They were thought for a group of six people or a group of friends between 35 and 40 years old. Spring, especially in May, would be the perfect period to make these naturalistic tours.
Our idea was to visit the nature reserve of Val Rosandra on the first day and Sistiana/Duino on the second day. The price for two days is 100 euros per person, lunch included. To reach the meeting point we would organize a shuttle for six people, so that it would be more comfortable for the group to move.
We would start from Bagnoli and then hiking in Val Rosandra for an hour; we will take you to see the beautiful waterfall, from where we will then reach the small village of Botazzo. Here we would have a break and relax in the nature, sipping a coffee or a glass of  homemade wine.
Then we would slowly go back to Bagnoli and stop in Rifugio Premuda where we would have an energizing good meal. After the lunch we would return and take the shuttle. Happy and with a full belly we would go back to the hotel.

To Go Off The Beaten Path

When it comes to discover a place for the first time, you may only have started to scratch the surface of this wonderful corner of Italy that sides with the "ex" border of Slovenia.
Since you might have never been here, I would like to advise you this kind of itinerary, it's a bit "out of the beaten path", but I assure you that marvelous places are waiting only your visit.

It's about 4 days travel via bus. You'll leave from Trieste early in the morning (8 a.m.) to visit the Cave of Postojna and its exciting interior that will take you on a fantastic journey beneath the surface of Earth!
You may get hungry after seeing so much 'hidden wonders' so the next trip will get you to one of the most marvelous European capital, Ljubljana.
After a nice lunch the tour leader will give you some tips about the city, until you get thirsty and want to try out some typical beverage and spend the night in some pub!

After a well deserved sleep at the hotel, the morning after you'll head to Bled, where the vision of a little church in the middle of a lake will take your breath away!
The visit and the whole scenario will be so overwhelming that you'll stay the night in a hotel there!
If the first lake was great, you haven't see the lake of Bohinj yet, which is your destination the day after. No church on an island this time, but you can relax a bit and have a nice walk around.

From there you'll move back to Italy and visit the lakes of Fusine, (because we have nice lakes as well of course!) Then you'll head to Venzone, a small town near the Tagliamento river. After a nice walk there as well the bus will take you to San Daniele, for a well deserved dinner!
The night will quite in the hotel, and the morning after you'll be ready to have a better look of the city just before having lunch and preparing your baggage to go back to Trieste, with some nice memory of peaceful and quite places that will remain in your memory forever!!!

The price for this trip is 350€ that includes: bus, visits of Bled church, lunch in San Daniele, and breakfast is included in all the hotel that you'll stay.

Red & White, a trip to remember. ( maybe ).

We are going to take you on an interesting trip today, to explore and taste Friuli Venezia Giulia. This will be a journey to remember as we would like to let you know more about our region through its culinary culture. Our itinerary will guide you through Trieste, Gradisca, Cormons and Cividale. We think the most important part of visiting a place is to understand its origins, art and cultural history. We believe that food and drinks also play a key role in this, and that's what we are going to present to you. This will be a great experience!! Enjoy your trip!

Let's start from the beginning:

Day 1:
The Tour will start in Trieste at 9 o'clock in the morning. A guide will take you through Trieste and its marvels while letting you taste all of its signature dishes and drinks. In this part of the Tour the group will move afoot through the city and visit its historical caffees, moving then in one of the historical restaurants of the area. You choose!!

Caffees:

  • Caffè Tommaseo
  • Caffè San Marco
  • Caffè Eppinger

Restaurants:

Fish
  • Ristorante Scabar
  • Ristorante al Bagatto
  • Trattoria ai Fiori
  • Ristorante al nuovo antico pavone

Meat

  • Bracerie Venete
  • Agriturismo Milic Zagrski
  • Buffet da Pepi
  • Al Toscano

During this visit the guide will inform you about the main attractions of Trieste, like the Castello San Giusto, its churches and its history, probably in front of a good cup of coffee or one of the typical sweets the city has to offer like the Putizza, Pinza or Presnitz.

During this time together you will also taste the wines the city has to offer:

  • Vitovska ( White wine )
  • Malvasia Istriano ( White Wine )
  • Glera ( White wine )
  • Terrano ( Red Whine )

Day 2:

In the second day you will move through our region, tasting our wines, cold cuts, cheese and visiting the most important wine-producing cities in the Collio area. Starting from Cividale and ending with Gradisca. The group will move aboard an 8 seat-bus, driver included.

You will have the chance to taste the following wines:

White:

  • Pinot
  • Tocai
  • Collio Bianco
  • Sauvignon
  • Friulano

Red:

  • Cabernet
  • Collio Rosso
  • Merlot

We really hope you will remember the trip!!

Have a nice day!

Let's go all out

Hi, welcome to my new post. Today I want to share with you my thoughts about the internship I'm about to do at the end of the course.
I'm so fired up because that's my chance to get a job and start my way to make a great career and be acknowledged for who I am, but I'm also scared because things don't always go the way you want them to so I could have a bad experience. That's what scares me the most, to find out that what I want to do is not as I expected it to be. Of course I'll do my best to make things go right, we'll see how things go.
That's it for today, hope you guys enjoyed reading my post as much as I enjoyed write it. And, as always, see you next time.

I Love English!

A lesson that I liked the last week is where we begun to write the blog.

From the beginning of English lessons we had to do this free writing exercise with some rules to follow:
  1.  Don't think.
  2. Keep your hand moving.
  3. Don't correct yourself.
  4. Quantity is better than quality.
  5. Go crazy.

I think that this exercise is important to emprove English language because once you did it on the paper, to talk comes easier.
It's nice to share the ideas and experiences on the blog with others, maybe it's too early but could be funny and nice to discuss and comment the posts...
I think that when you write, your mind and toughts becomes clearer and you become more selfawarned about what is happening to you especially in your head.
It's like listening to your inner voice and it helps to remember better the things that you could forget.
When I wrote my introduction on my exercisebook it made me feel happy.
It will give us the opportunity to stay in contact and share our experiences at the Hotels by the way.

Keys are Magical

As a former art student I always love to explore the hidden meanings of small things around us, everything could symbolize something bigger, something more universal.
So, today I will focus on what I think is the mosr representing symbol of our future job of choice: keys.

When I graduated my family gifted me a lovely key pendant with a note attached - may this be the key of your success-  and here it lies one of the powers of this tiny object: opening.

It may be opening something material: an hidden treasure's chest, the door of your dream home, the lock of your secret diary, a mysterious drawer you never looked into.
It may be opening something more immaterial: the heart of someone you love, another level of consciousness, the doors of the cage we all close ourselves once in a lifetime.

A key could mean freedom. liberation, discovery, knowledge of something new.

On the otherside we have the opposite power: closing. With keys you could lock away something secret, something precious. They provide you privacy and safety, you could rest easy if you feel protected by this small piece of metal which keeps away everything you don't invite. You could lock in something so it could never escape.

A key could mean protection, security, power of choice, stability.

In your life you will touch lots and lots of keys and I invite you all to don't forget that keys could open and close but the choice of doing that it always lies in your hands and that's where the true magic is.

Love,
Holly

Lizzie's here!

Hello everyone!
I'm Lizzie and I'm 30 years old. I've been living in Trieste for a year and now I'm attending this course to become a receptionist.
The reason why I am here is that I decided to challenge myself, as I always do, without realizing it at first. I constantly fight against my shyness trying to get involved in activities in which I have to show myself and that pull me out of my comfort zone.
I love to learn languages, indeed I dedicated my studies to learn English, German and Spanish.
I went to Andalusia in Spain for four months during my university course and I fell in love with this region. There I found a sort of second home. I'm really into dancing, although I don't have much time and opportunities now to keep practicing.
One of my biggest passions is creating handmade jewelry; I didn't know anything about that until two years ago, when, for a coincidence,  I started buying magazines and materials to learn by myself how to get started.
I worked as a waitress but this isn't a job that really suites me: I took the chance to do something different and give myself an opportunity after spending too much time trying to find another job, but without results.
So now I'm here, with big dreams and expectations: I hope all of them could come true!

A good Vojage In Val Rosandra

My experience about this course and a lesson I liked

Hello everyone today I'm going to tell my experience in this course and a lesson that I found interesting. Well the lesson that I liked was English because I learned new things and how to communicate in a different language with other people.
Especially the free writing is useful for all of us because you have the oppurtunity to write what you feel inside.
About the course well is becoming interesting we are all discovering how we are going to work someday in a hotel. I'm sure that we all are going to give our best and we will be fine.

Course lessons.

All the lessons of this course are very interesting, but I've enjoyed the most the "Front/Back Office" lessons, English lessons and German lessons.
The first one because there was the chance to learn how to deal with the guests in many different situations, even doing some simulations that were also funny in the end.
The English lessons has been very useful to improve both listening and speaking, and the German ones to improve a little more my level, which is low.

Hi, here Denis from Trieste

All the lesson of this course are very interessant.
Like this english with Miss Karoline is very interesting for me because the teacher is very friendly and professionality.
Also this I would like to improve my English after the differrent course because I had attend a different course of english.
The lesson is very interesting because I understand the importance of the blog and the social network like this twitter or another different programms like this facebook and snapchat.
I understand the person and I am very happy that I Improve my English with the group of my course. Now I express in a different way and I undestarstand the importance of the english language.
The another lesson are very intereresting because I understand the importance of German. Another lesson are very interesting to improve the importance of the professionality of the receptionist.
For me the receptionist must to be polite and must to have a good relationship with the client.
